Yearning the Machine

An Interactive Sound and Light Installation that uses an artificial intelligence system to mix audio in real-time. Be encapsulated by striking abstract projections as you yearn to learn this machine. How do artificial intelligence systems work, and how long will it take you to crack the code?

Yearning the Machine is a Mixed Reality project that combines physical tactile elements with machine vision and projection mapping, translating color and pattern into sound.

This project was a a deliverable prototype for our industry partners, Fred Deakin and Rob Armstrong, as part of our MA in Virtual and Extended Realities, in UWE, Bristol, UK. Later on, we had the
opportunity to upscale it to a life-size installation called
Color & the Machine and present it at the “Prevail Festival” in Bristol Beacon.
